This project reimagines the book cover and sleeve for Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, inspired by key elements from the iconic story and its film adaptation. The front cover features the Other Mother’s web, delicately illustrated in white lines against a gradient of blue and purple. This design evokes the eerie, mystical atmosphere of Coraline’s world, drawing the reader into the story. On the back cover, the Other Mother’s skeletal hand holds a needle and thread, which wind around the book synopsis and selected review quotes. This design element symbolizes her sinister ability to fabricate stories and create illusions, capturing the unsettling undertone of the narrative. The endpapers feature a custom pattern of buttons, needles, and thread, reflecting central motifs of the story while providing continuity and cohesion to the design.
