This project showcases a type specimen for the typeface Janson, delving into the intriguing historical misattribution of its name. Although the typeface is named after Anton Janson, the true creator, Miklós Kis, was only recently recognized for his work. The concept imagines Kis discovering this poster and intervening to set the record straight.

To bring this idea to life, I crafted a layered, tactile design process: burning the edges of paper to evoke intensity and history, digitally applying typography, marking up the printed piece with bold red paint to emulate Kis’s “corrections,” and finally scanning the finished piece to create a raw and dynamic composition. The result is a striking commentary on historical inaccuracies and the power of claiming one’s legacy.
